THE WALL

When Your Back Is Against the Wall! The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. (Psalm 9:9) Is your back smack up against the wall? You can go no further and you’re feeling trapped. You feel like there is no way out of your dilemma with no one to help you. You’ve tried everything within your power and now you’re desperate. The following is taking place: • Lost job • Attacked on the job • Your company closed • You lost your retirement • Mortgage is very late • Children are out of control • False rumors about you in the community • Lack money for children’s education. Whom can you turn to now? Maybe you’ve heard of God doing miraculous things for certain people, but you’re not sure about all that. It all could have been coincidence, the medicine, or lucky circumstances that made those things come to pass for others. It could also be that those who experienced such wild-sounding claims were “good.” You may even be saying to yourself that you do not deserve any favors from God. Why would He reach down and bother to help you? When you find yourself in this situation, you need to determine... Two Things. Firstly, is your back against the wall because of something you did? If you smoke cigarettes and get cancer, you are the problem. If you are driving 75 in a 55mph zone and you get a ticket, you are the problem. If you don't have the faith or diligence to get a new car,job or home, you are the problem. You need "self protection "from yourself! Secondly, if your problem is caused through no fault of your own or it is caused by the enemy... then ...You Are in Spiritual Warfare. I Have Good News For You! God is going to shift things around for you ...today ...and let things work in your favor! YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THE RULES OF SPIRITUAL WARFARE!!! From my study of the BIBLE and life, the enemy has two types of attaches. One is internal .The enemy wants you to fear or be confuse." No passion so effectually robs the mind of all its powers of acting and reasoning as fear," said Ed Burke.Don’t fall for this trick! Your Father in heaven has all... power ...in his hands. David taught us the correct method of spiritual warfare. You must have an... action plan. Remember, David rain out to face Goliath. You must take "action" when your back is against the wall." There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction,"John F.Kennedy . The second thing you must do is pray expectantly.David would pray and then forget about the problem. He expected God to answer that prayer. He did not pray and worry. He prayed the "prayer of hope ." The Bible says hope is greater than faith. Let me illustrate this point for you. I have seen good basket ball players shoot the ball and wait to see if it was going through the nets. I had the pleasure of watching Earl the Pearl Monroe play when he was a senior at Winston Salem State University. He came down the floor about center court and shot the ball. He turned around started going back to the other end of the court for defense ...without confirming whether the ball successfully entered... the nets. Amazingly, the ball hit the nets without touching the realms. He shot the ball expectantly . Pray expectantly! Consider it a done! Don't believe it is done!Consider it done! The other attack is external .It includes things... such as... criticism, scorn, false accusations, threats, hindering and conspiracy. The text was written by David the Sheppard Boy ...who was a master ...at spiritual warfare. He faced several situations and won each time against tremendous odds. He faced a bear as Sheppard Boy and won. He went up against the Giant Goliath with a sling shot and won. One night he was completely surrounded by an enemy army. He prayed and went to sleep did not worry about it any more.He got up early the next morning with the help of the Lord and destroyed that army. My grandfather was a very successful man. He was born in 1890 and did not have the opportunities that we have today. There were many obstacles in his way... racism, discrimination, and financial hardships. However, I observed him on several occasions with his back against the wall. His secret was prayer. God would always answer his prayers! I have faced many difficult situations and have prevailed in most cases... with the... help of God. I am not as great as my grandfather and David the Sheppard Boy. However, when I stay in prayer, devotion and Bible study, the solution to my problems always appear. "…In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). Why do we have such a difficult time taking God at His word when it comes to facing adversity? When the tough times come, God’s people are to stand firm…and yet so many of us cave in under the pressure of danger, hardship or difficulties. The greatest example of having your back against the wall is Jesus .He defeated death and the grave yard one Easter Sunday Morning. When they went to the tomb that Sunday Morning, it was empty. He had overcome the world. This is why we have victory today! We have the victory! Rev.Esco Yancey,Jr.
