DARBY Attorney-at-Law and Pastor, Penn Avenue Baptist Church Oxford, North Carolina Gospel Times Ministries' lead preacher and legal representative, Willie S. Darby is a native of Oxford, North Carolina. He was educated in the public schools of Granville County. While in high school, he served as president of the Senior Class, Captain of the football team and a member of the Drama Club. He enrolled in North Carolina Central University in 1971 and graduated, magna cum laude with a BA Degree in Political Science with a concentration in Criminal Justice. Darby received a scholarship to continue his studies at North Carolina Central University Law School. While in law school, he served as Student Bar President 1977-1978 and Comment Editor of the Law Journal 1978. He received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1978, and he passed the North Carolina State Bar the same year. In December of 1994, he accepted the profound call upon his life to preach the Gospel, and preached his initial sermon February 26, 1995. He became a licensed Baptist Minister; thereby adding to his may duties and responsibilities. Darby has always been involved in the church as a born-again Christian. He served on the Board of Deacons for twelve years. He was a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent for fifteen years. He served as President of the County Line Sunday School Union for two years. Darby has served as legal advisory for many churches in Granville County. He was ordained by the County Line Missionary Baptist Association on March 31, 1996. He became Pastor of Penn Avenue Baptist Church on April 10, 1997. Pastor Darby presently serves as First Vice Moderator of the County Line Missionary Baptist Association. He is married to Margaret Moore Darby. They have two daughters, Tasha and Fran.
