Our guest preacher is Reverend Carlton Whidby. Read his bio: Rev. Carlton Jackson Whidby is a licensed, ordained minister who obtained his Master’s in Divinity from Shaw University Divinity School, where he specialized in Religious Education. He also has both an Associate’s and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He is the recipient of numerous academic awards, including Who’s Who and a member of The Alpha Chi National Honor Society. Rev. Whidby has dedicated his life to serving others, and he has done this in numerous capacities, including serving as: minister and pastor, Sergeant in the United States Air Force, a corrections’ officer, a deputy sheriff, an Emergency Medical Technician, a firefighter, a supervisor, and as a business owner. Politically speaking, Rev. Whidby was the co-chairman for Jesse Jackson’s 1984 Presidential Campaign for Durham County, which was the only county in North Carolina that Rev. Jackson won. Subsequently, Rev. Whidby was elected delegate from N.C. to the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco. He was campaign coordinator for Albert Wynn, the first African-American Congressman from the state of Maryland. Rev. Whidby has also testified before the U. S. Congress on behalf of small businesses. Nevertheless, Rev. Whidby’s life took a dramatic change after he became involved in the Gospel Times Ministries about six years ago, as he began to reach out to those in need of spiritual uplift. He subsequently became the associate pastor at Cornerstone Community Church, teaching Sunday School, preaching, and participating in outreach initiatives for the church. Daily, Rev Whidby puts into action the words of his favorite scripture: Romans 12:13 which says – “Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice Hospitality.†Rev. Whidby is currently an Associate Minister at First Baptist Church in Raleigh N.C., where Dr. Dumas Harshaw is the pastor.
